MOSCOW, Idaho — Oct. 11, 2021 — Libraries at four Idaho institutions of higher education recently formed the Network of Idaho Academic Libraries (NIAL) to enhance the library services and resources offered to Idaho’s citizens.
The University of Idaho, Boise State University, Idaho State University and Lewis Clark State College formed the network to share expertise and resources. NIAL’s first initiative will showcase many of the state’s digitized historical collections in a single platform, bringing historical photos, maps, oral histories, and more from numerous Idaho digital libraries into one place. All content will be freely available and accessible online.
“NIAL will provide opportunities for Idaho’s academic libraries to communicate and collaborate so that we can better serve not just our respective institutions, but all Idaho residents” said Ben Hunter, dean of University Libraries at the University of Idaho and chair of the NIAL board of directors.
The founding members of NIAL are recruiting other Idaho academic libraries to further expand the impact and reach of the organization.
